’Haou Nebout’, as described by the ancient Egyptians, was a mysterious archipelago of islands located in the heart of the ocean. This mythical, submerged place - much like Atlantis - was home to the "Sea People”, who were then forced to a perpetual wandering.
Drawing on this ancient myth, the trio Haou Nebout imagines a future of rebirth where the remnants of post-capitalist civilization, submerged and swallowed by the mud, re-emerge as fertile ground for a new beginning. In this dystopian vision, among the wreckages and fragments of a decayed technological world, the group finds its identity. They imagine an anthroposphere rising from the ruins, where buried electronic instruments are rediscovered and transformed. Music becomes a ritual, a foundation for rebuilding community and culture, rekindling a deep connection with nature and fostering a sense of belonging in a shattered world. Here music transforms into a new language: an immediate, collective, and shared form of communication.
The debut album Haou Nebout is a compact, violent and urgent work. The sound materials were selected from a single improvisation session recorded by Gustavo Petek on May 18, 2024, at the Château Rouge in Vienna.
